Kap Meats Undergoes Major Changes After Loss Of Farm Tenant

After the sudden departure of Kapuskasing’s Demonstration Farm tenant, one company has cut their losses.

Following Farmer Andrew Gordanier’s sudden early leave, Kap Meats Former Co-Owner Yves Labelle says his company knew immediately they could not continue their work in the same fashion.

Labelle says they then went to work quickly on deciding the next step with their livestock, and then the company as a whole.

He says it made perfect sense to sell the animals and the company, and even more so to sell to Andrew Weber in Val Gagne.

Labelle says it’s been very disappointing for all of the investors, but at least Kap Meats will continue.

He says unfortunately, the timing also put them in a lose-lose position financially when it came to the sale.

Labelle says by selling to Weber, Kap Meats will stay alive as a business, albeit run under a different ownership group.

He also says they sold all of their remaining livestock to producers in the region in places such as; Thunder Bay, Timmins, Val Rita and Val Gagne.
