Hughes Says Kinder Morgan’s Pipeline Extension Could Prove Costly For Canadians

The NDP’s Carol Hughes says the Kinder Morgan Pipeline extension is going to be costly for Canadians.

The Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing MP says the pipeline expansion has been fought hard by Indigenous communities for many reasons including a lack of consultation regarding the project.

Hughes says 133 First Nations across Ontario have recently joined a nationwide treaty calling for a ban to the pipeline extension.

She says the federal government is trying to please Indigenous communities by promising no financial losses.

Hughes says at the end of the day, Canadians would be on the hook for the costs.

Currently, the debate on whether or not to extend Kinder Morgan’s Trans Mountain Pipeline from Alberta to British Columbia’s coast continues to rage on.
