Ontario SIU Clear Kapuskasing OPP In Overdose Case

Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit has ended their investigation into the Kapuskasing OPP regarding an overdose.

Following a 65-year-old Kapuskasing woman’s death on March 12th from a drug overdose, the Ontario SIU was called in to investigate.

SIU investigators say paramedics were notified of a possible overdose and arrived at the woman’s residence around 5:30pm.

Investigators say the woman was seen consuming pills, so police were called to the scene.

SIU Investigators say when asked by police she failed to explain what type of substance she had consumed, so officers persuaded her to attend a hospital where she was pronounced dead at 2:00am the next morning.

SIU Director Tony Loparco says the case is terminated considering there was nothing the officers did to contribute to the woman’s death.
