The NDP’s Carol Hughes says colleague Scott Duvall’s Bill C-384 will finally protect pensions.
According to the Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing MP, fellow NDP MPP for Hamilton Mountain Scott Duvall’s Private Members Bill would give employees priority over creditors when a company goes bankrupt.
Hughes says when companies go bankrupt; employers are underfunding pension plans to bankrupt employees.
She says this will mean people can receive a fair pension once they retire.

Hughes says they want to make sure employees come before creditors when companies go bankrupt.
Duvall was joined by Hughes and fellow NDP MP Charlie Angus to speak about the bill in Sudbury at Town Hall.
