Iroquois Falls Could Be Future Home To New Food Hub

As Northern communities look to reduce the cost of food, one company is creating their own.

Riversedge Developments purchased the former Abitibi Mill in Iroquois Falls back in 2016.

President of Riversedge Developments Justus Veldman says since then, they have removed most of the buildings on the former site expect for one, a 30,000-square-foot-warehouse.

Veldman says the warehouse is being repurposed as a food hub under their independent company O’Clay, of which he is the CEO.

He also says following the launch of Abitibi Chevre Cheese back in December, they are now setting their sights on taking on more farmers under their company’s wing within the region.

Veldman says he hopes investors get behind the idea that no one should be over-paying for food, regardless of their location.
