As the summer sun starts to come out, the local community has seen a slight drop in recent crime.
That’s according to OPP Media Officer Stephanie Belec who says the Kapuskasing community saw a drop in March of drug occurrences as well as property crimes.
Belec says over the last month property crimes dropped in half from 70 to 34 and drug offences went from 26 down to 12.
She says the only raise was in violent crimes which went from 31 up to 48.
Belec says as the weather gets warmer there is often more property crime and drug offences, so this is a nice twist to see the opposite taking place.
