Cochrane Planning Introduction Of Transit Service By Fall

Cochrane plans to bring a transit system to town by the fall.

That’s according to their Mayor Peter Politis, who says they plan to run a two bus system that will cover across town as well as to and from Taykwa Tagamou First Nation.

The town received just under $60,000 from the federal government and just under $50,000 from the province to benefit transit infrastructure during the month of March.

Politis says up until this point in time the only public service for those who don’t drive has been taxis.

He has mentioned the town does not plan to be responsible for the operation of the service, he says they hope to reach a deal with the local taxi company to run the buses.
