Northern Municipal Associations See Partnering With Indigenous Communities As Positive

Northern Municipal Associations are more than willing to work alongside Indigenous communities.

That’s according to Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities President Alan Spacek, who says participation from tribal councils would be more than welcome.

Spacek says recently more success for FONOM has come from sharing a common position with the Northwestern Ontario Municipalities Association, and he only expects that same partnership would yield similar results with Indigenous communities.

Currently, FONOM represents over 100 municipalities, NOMA represents 37 and there are just over 100 First Nation communities without representation within the Northeast region.
