FONOM Has Mixed Feelings About The Provincial Budget

Northern municipalities have mixed reactions to the 2018 provincial budget.

The Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities says the budget shows that the province is committing to investing in the northern region which is fantastic.

President Al Spacek says FONOM is concerned about the running budget deficit of six point seven billion dollars, especially at a time when the economy is doing well.

Spacek says the provinces plan to have a running deficit through to 2024 is very concerning for northern municipalities, especially when the economy is doing well.

Spacek says this is something that FONOM will be keeping a close eye on in the coming years.
