Kapuskasing is not supporting the community transportation grant project.

After further discussion Monday, the proposed $25,000 involvement over the next five years was not supported by council.

Chair of Finance Dave Plourde says he recommended council not provide a contribution.

Plourde says the financial investment would not be a wise use of taxpayer dollars.

He says right now, taxpayers are interested in fixing things around town, rather than adding an extra service.

The transportation project would have seen a weekly bus service running from Opasatika and Moonbeam in to Kapuskasing, or a weekly route from Hearst to Kapuskasing.
