Northeastern Health Units Considering Possibility Of Shared Services

Five separate health units are exploring the possibility of performing shared services throughout the Northeast.

The Porcupine Health Unit, alongside Sudbury and District, Timiskaming, Algoma and North Bay Parry Sound District could explore the option to collaborate on strengthening the health care system in Northeastern Ontario.

PHU Acting Medical Officer of Health Doctor Lianne Catton says nothing is set in stone, and currently cooperation between units is purely hypothetical.

Catton also says there would not be any foreseen job losses to come from any shared services.

She also says at the time there is no way to tell if certain programs or projects would be included or excluded from the partnership if it was to take place.
