A Kapuskasing man has been sentenced to life in prison for the 2015 murder of a 23-year-old Kapuskasing mother.

In Cochrane at the Superior Court of Justice Monday, 33-year-old Patrick Carignan was sentenced to life in prison without parole for 16 years.

Carignan was convicted of second-degree murder this past November for the death of Emmanuelle D’Amours in February of 2015.

In addition to sentencing Carignan to life in prison the judge has imposed a lifetime weapons ban and prohibited him from having any communication with members of the victim’s family.
