NELHIN Celebrating French Contributions On International Francophone Day

International Francophone day will be a time to reflect on the many important contributions of Francophones to Northern Ontario.

That’s according to a press release from the North East Local Health Integration Network, who is celebrating by reflecting upon the cultural diversity and linguistic history of Francophones.

CEO of NE LHIN Jeremy Stevenson says close to 125,000 people who call Northeastern Ontario home are French-speaking, roughly 23 per cent of the population.

He says the NELHIN values its partnership with the Northern Ontario Francophone Wellness Network, and together they are increasing access to health care.

Stevenson also points out that currently, French Language Services in health care are provided by 42 designated health service providers in Northeastern Ontario alone.
