International Recruitment Could Bring Boost To Northern Economy

Northern Ontario business could be seeing a boost thanks to some international help.

A presentation at College Boreal’s Timmins campus last week was made by the Northern Ontario Francophone Immigration Support Network’s Project Coordinator Christian Howald regarding international recruitment.

Howald says every year there are fairs in Paris and Brussels to recruit qualified workers to Canada.

He says what the presentation tries to do is show there is no risk and no fear in hiring French speaking immigrants to help diversify the economy.

Howlad also mentioned in the presentation that Northern Ontario right now only gets about 500 immigrants per year, but 2,000 international students, so it can work.

He says this be a great way to overcome the challenge of having so many people retiring within the region.
