Lumberjack Festival 2018 Gets Go Ahead From Council

There will be a Lumberjack Festival for Kapuskasing in 2018.

Town CAO Guylain Baril says council made the move official tonight opting to go ahead with the festival despite not bringing back Beauce Carnival.

Baril says they decided they will go ahead with the festival despite the risk of a small deficit.

He also says they are still searching for a suitable entertainment for the kids.

Baril says without a carnival there is the possibility of facing an over $22,000 deficit from the festival, however, council feels determined to make sure that is not the outcome by replacing the carnival with another form of worthy entertainment.

Last year’s Lumberjack Festival wound up with a just over $45,000 deficit, despite the success of Beauce Carnival.

The Lumberjack Heritage Festival for 2018 will be the 19th version of the longtime tradition.
