Hughes Sees Budget As A Missed Opportunity For Northern Economy

The 2018 Federal Budget was a missed opportunity to build the economy, despite some improvements for women within the workforce.

That’s according to Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing MP Carol Hughes, who says there was no investment into the military or anything done to fix equity issues.

Hughes also says the lack of work done to address the inequality that women face overall, and the lack of care shown to pensioners is a shame.

She says this is a real missed opportunity for Northern Ontario to see a boost to their economy.

However, Hughes, a major advocate for women’s rights in the workplace, says encouraging skilled trades is a start.

Hughes also says the budget includes an $18.1 billion deficit, which in the end, shows a lack of respect from the Liberals towards previous election campaign promises.
