TADH Seeks Refurbishment Of Emergency Department Despite Budgetary Deficit

Timmins and District Hospital is trying to refurbish its emergency department while struggling to cope with a budgetary deficit.

This past week TADH Chief Executive Officer Blaise MacNeil delivered a presentation to city council detailing an expected $4.5 million deficit in their 2018/19 budget and their need for an emergency department refurbish.

MacNeil says TADH is now a 25-year-old building in need of repairs, and to better serve patients of today they need updated accommodations for the department.

He also says in order to make those repairs TADH will support the Ontario Hospital Associations push at Queen’s Park for a near five per cent increase in hospital budgets.

Timmins Mayor Steve Black agreed with the proposal from TADH, and supported their position to lobby at Queen’s Park.
