NewsSchool/Bus NoticesProvince Launches Pilot Program To Examine Ways To Save Schools From Closure SHARE ON: Nick Birnie, contributor, Monday, Feb. 26th, 2018Ontario’s Ministry of Education has launched a pilot project to test out methods regarding how boards and municipalities will team together to save struggling schools.The province plans to revise its community planning and partnerships guideline while launching the pilot project.Senior Media Relations Coordinator at the ministry Heather Irwin says they are looking for feedback regarding the relationship between municipalities and school boards.Irwin says the plan will involve the Ministry of Infrastructure and Ministry of Municipal Affairs to launch the project aimed at improving the partnership between both sides.Kapuskasing Mayor Alan Spacek had very little to say regarding the decision, other than the town is pleased to see a resolution such as this coming from the ministry.Details of the pilot project have yet to be released; they are due to become public knowledge in the spring following another round of public consultation.
