The Kapuskasing community is being reminded to travel safely on all roadways and trails over the long weekend.
As Family Day long weekend begins, Media Officer Stephanie Belec says drivers can expect to see an increase in police presence from the Kapuskasing Detachment of the OPP on Highways and Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs’ trails.
Police will be conducting the Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere, or RIDE checkpoints at various locations.
Officers are also reminding the community that if attending nearby carnivals in Mattice or Cochrane, to be extra cautious of pedestrians while driving.
Police ask that you drive safe and report any possible instances of impaired driving.
