50 Million Tree Program To Plant In Kapuskasing

2018 marks the 10th anniversary of the 50 Million Tree Program for Forests Ontario, and Kapuskasing will be one of the targeted planting areas.

Northern Ontario Field Adviser for the program Peter Gagnon says it has been around since 2008 but only begun in the north in 2015.

Gagnon says it was designed to significantly reduce the costs to landowners of large-scale tree planting and thereby increase the number of trees province wide.

He says there so much land available in the north for planting it’s a no-brainer.

Gagnon says the end goal is to put up more trees all over the province.

The 50 Million Tree Program has helped over 4,000 landowners in its 10 year run and is committed to reaching their 50 million tree mark by 2025.
