Cochrane’s Torch Light Parade takes place today to kick-off the final weekend of the winter carnival for 2018.

There will be two walking parades and everyone taking part in the parade will be provided a live torch by the local fire department to carry through the procession.

The parade will take the crowd down to Lake Commando where a massive bonfire will be the final stop.

Mayor Peter Politis added that the parade is a real unique spectacle of northern life, one that he says you can’t find in many other communities.

The Torch Parade kicks off tonight at dusk.
