The town has approved a draft shareholder declaration for Energy Kapuskasing and are moving forward with current projects.

Council decided Monday that the draft was more than satisfactory for approval, despite former CAO of the town and CEO of Energy Kapuskasing Yvan Brousseau, being charged with fraud just over a week ago.

Mayor Alan Spacek says the town and the corporation are operating at arm’s length as separate and distinctly different entities.

Spacek says there is no short answer on how things currently stand, but ongoing projects are still moving along.

He also says a solar farm initiative for Kirkland Lake is now the main priority for Energy Kapuskasing.

As for the project in Kirkland Lake, Energy Kapuskasing are still trying to get moving on a $7.1 million solar farm initiative first announced back in 2014.
