Cadets from Timmins, Iroquois Falls and Kirkland Lake got their first flights in as part of Operation AURORA.

Over Saturday and Sunday about 70 cadets in total were strapped into a Bellanca Scout aircraft as part of the Northern Ontario tour.

Each of the two flight days saw 35 cadets go up on a flight to learn from experienced pilots with different skills.

The tour, titled Operation AURORA, is to give communities in Ontario with air cadet programs an opportunity to get their cadets real in-flight training.

This weekend’s flights followed up a trip to Thunder Bay to give Northwestern cadet programs a taste of flight training the weekend prior.
