College Boreal has suspended the practical nursing program at their Hearst and Kapuskasing campuses.
In total, the college has 12 programs across all campuses they plan to cut.
President Daniel Giroux says the decision stems from the nursing program’s accrediting body, who recommended minimizing the number of sites the program was being offered.
Giroux says having a limited amount of students enrolled at these campuses played a major factor.

He says through this decision, they can now put a real focus on improving their agricultural program.
The practical nursing program will no longer be offered at College Boreal’s Hearst and Kapuskasing campuses beginning in 2019.
