Iroquois Falls Considering Sale Of Historical Building

Iroquois Falls is considering selling one of its most historical venues.

The Porquis Community Centre, whose lease is coming up for renewal, has council considering a sale as much as a renewal of its lease.

Iroquois Falls’ council members did a walkthrough of the hall before Christmas and Mayor Michael Shea says they are trying to be proactive about the scenario.

Shea says he cares about what will happen to the centre, but right now there are too many buildings owned by the town that are not being used.

He says council is all ears to any options or groups willing to purchase the venue or offer solutions for the future direction of the centre.

At this time there are no other buildings that have been considered for sale by the town that are municipally owned.
