Ontario PC Party Yet To Announce Candidate For Mushkegowuk-James Bay After Postponing Weekend Announcement

The Ontario PC Party has yet to nominate a candidate for the newly formed Mushkegowuk-James Bay riding despite having planned to do so.

This past Saturday the PC founding and candidate nomination meeting for the new riding was set to be held in Kapuskasing.

However, the meeting was abruptly cancelled following the resignation of Party Leader Patrick Brown due to allegations of sexual misconduct this past Wednesday.

President of the Timmins-James Bay Riding Association Robert Manseau says the meeting would have been to adopt a constitution, elect an executive and nominate candidates for the riding.

Manseau says now that the meeting is postponed, the process has completely changed due to the immense shake-up of personnel within the PC Party ranks.

Currently, there is only one candidate that is seeking election for the Mushkegowuk-James Bay riding, the NDP’s Guy Bourgouin as they are the only party to have anyone seeking nomination thus far.
