OPP Give Tips To Keep Vehicles Safe From Theft During Winter

The James Bay Detachment of the OPP is reminding the Kapuskasing community to please lock it or lose it when it comes to your vehicle.

Police are asking the community to lock their cars and trucks at night or any time that they leave them unattended, even in your own driveway.

Media Officer Stephanie Belec says it takes mere seconds for a theft to occur.

Belec says some prevention strategies are: locking your vehicle, parking it in an enclosed and locked garage and completely closing all windows when parked. Belec also mentions that you should not leave valuables within your vehicle in plain sight, keep your license and registration in your wallet or purse and if possible, invest in a vehicle alarm system.
