With Patrick Brown stepping down as Progressive Conservative Leader and a provincial election this June, the question becomes who leads the Tories. Moose News reached Nipissing Tory MPP Vic Fedeli at his Toronto office this morning to address this issue. Two years ago Fedeli campaigned for the P.C. leadership. Fedeli says the party caucus will hold a special meeting on Friday to discuss appointing an interim Leader. Moose News asked Fedeli would he consider the leadership on an interim basis. He laughed and said “let me get to caucus and see what happens”. Moose News pressed further and asked Fedeli in the event his name came up to lead the party on an interim basis, would he consider it. “I’m eager to get into caucus and get the pulse of caucus to see where it all fits,” he said. “This is all happening so very, very, quickly.” Fedeli also said this kind of thing has never happened before and the Tory executive is meeting on Thursday to determine such matters like can the interim leader take the party into the next election campaign. He also said the party executive will try to define what the name “interim” means at this point. However he’s certain that at this point it’s the caucus, which is made up of Tory MPPs, has the “role of appointing an interim leader”.
