The James Bay Detachment of the OPP and the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs has launched their Provincial Snowmobile Safety Week.
The annual campaign runs from January 20th through January 28th in the Kapuskasing community and is aimed at educating the snowmobile community about safe snowmobiling.
Media Officer Stephanie Belec says there are some tips they offer for a fun day of riding.
Belec says to fill up your gas tank, check the weather before heading out and dress appropriately.
She also says to never travel alone, always drive within your ability and pack a survival kit including GPS, high-energy food and first aid materials.
The OPP is alerting riders that following these tips is a major component of ensuring that everyone has an enjoyable day of riding and gets home safe and sound.
