OPP With Tips For Better Handling The Reopening Of A Highway

The OPP is alerting the Kapuskasing community of what to expect when a highway is being reopened.

Following a recent string of crashes two weekends ago on Highway 11 between Hearst and Longlac, the OPP is providing safety tips to help the community.

Media Officer Stephanie Belec says all drivers should be aware that they can expect to be stopped again after a highway reopens for multiple reasons.

Belec says these include; only one lane of traffic is available, vehicles may need to be towed, a collision is up ahead or in an attempt to prevent aggressive driving only small groups are being allowed at a time.

She says you are being asked to take all of these factors into consideration when driving on the highway.

The OPP is asking all drivers to proceed with caution during the winter months.
