Ontario Northland says they are ready to reinstate the Northlander passenger train, but the PC party says it won’t happen that quickly.
That’s according to Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli, who says returning the Northlander service will take place with the PC party in charge, but it will take time.
Fedeli says since the service has been disconnected for over five years, it would take a lot of rebuilding from the ground up to properly reinstate the passenger rail service.
Timiskaming-Cochrane NDP MPP John Vanthof says an NDP led province would see a re-designed public transportation system in Northern Ontario driven by the people using the services.
Fedeli, meanwhile, says there would need to be a lot of necessary upgrades to equipment before the service could make a return.
