Kapuskasing Yet To Give Up Hope For Four-Lane Highway

Kapuskasing is not yet giving up their push for a four-lane highway in Northern Ontario.

Council members decided it best to table a recent request to re-consider supporting the Two plus One road pilot program between North Bay and Nipigon under the Going the Extra Mile for Safety petition.

Mayor Alan Spacek says council members have been fighting for the four-lane highway since day one, which is why they did not support a previous request earlier this summer for the Two plus One program.

Therefore, Spacek says council will need to see further information before deciding on this new proposal.

He also says council has a legitimate concern that if they support the two plus one program; will they be giving up hope for a four-lane highway.

The Two plus One program would see a three-lane road, consisting of two lanes in one direction and one lane in the other, alternating every few kilometres.
