Kapuskasing will be taking a further look before agreeing to increase their financial contribution to health care recruitment in the area.
At council Wednesday members decided to table a request from the Kapuskasing and District Professional Health Care Recruitment and Retention Committee for a two per cent increase in their financial contribution for 2018.
Mayor Alan Spacek says he was in support of the increase, but council members felt it best to first gain a better understanding of their total yearly contributions to health care before approving.
Spacek says supporting health care recruit is important but made tough by the lack of funds currently available.
He says he supported the increase but council wants to know the total financial contribution being made to health care recruitment.
He also says with budget time approaching this contribution should be included in those talks rather than separately.
