Forcemain Project Will Undergo Break Due To Frost

An ongoing forcemain project will be undergoing a necessary delay in order to be completed properly.

At town council Wednesday night members were alerted to a letter from Villeneuve and their blasting sub-contractor regarding a high level of frost over the Lemarier Street construction zone.

The letter spoke to possible issues involving watermain and gas damage from rocks covered in frost being blasted from the area.

Mayor Alan Spacek says a requested extension on the project was approved by the Clean Water and Wastewater Fund meaning their ongoing grant will also be extended.

Spacek says with the funding extension solidified, pushing the date back became a no-brainer.

Currently, Public Works Manager Eric Cote says nearly 70 per cent of the project is completed from Mill Street through to Lemarier Street and from Lemarier west to Laval Street.

The delay is expected to last until the spring when the project will re-continue.
