A class of intermediate students from Cochrane Public School spent their time giving back to the local community over the holiday season.

Students from Shea Henderson’s Grade seven class helped provide residents from the local area with a hot meal out front of Giant Tiger in late December.

Henderson says the goal was to provide a warm meal for anyone interested, and in turn, they ended up receiving donations from those passing by.

He says the project was to get students involved in giving back to the community.

The students raised just over $200 on the day and decided to spend it on gifts for residents of Villa Minto Hospital, before donating the rest to the local food bank.
