Police are warning residents using Mattagami River to be aware of the unpredictable nature of the ice this time of year.
Officers say due to the movement of the current, the ice could be much thicker in some spots, and very weak in others.
As temperatures began on the warmer side this week, the OPP is making an effort to keep sledders, fishermen, and outdoorsmen safe while using the river.
OPP Media Officer Stephanie Belec previously told Moose news regarding ice safety that no waterway is ever 100 per cent safe.
Belec also says in order to keep yourself safe when out ice fishing or snowmobiling, you must tell someone where you plan to be going.
