Cochrane’s Lake Commando beach will be getting the updated look the town wants thanks to a generous donation from a local company.
The plan is to see a splash pad built as part of a floating water park, a plan that also included the creation of a boardwalk completed in early November.
Owner of PharmaChoice Wallace Drug Store Frank Louvelle (Lou-vell) was one of the first donors to the project and was recognized in late December for his $20,000 contribution.
Mayor Peter Politis has told Moose news previously the project is to create more traffic in the downtown core, but also to return the beach to a focal point of the community for future generations.
Therefore, Politis says he couldn’t be more proud of the community or more grateful for the over $150,000 raised for the peninsula and beach projects.
Politis also says the expectation is that the splash pad will be completed for the upcoming summer season.
