OPP Advising Drivers To Be Extra Cautious During Winter Season

Following three fatal collisions in the span of 24 hours within the North East Region the OPP is advising motorists to drive with extra caution.

Police are reminding drivers that during the winter months they should be aware of the weather and drive according to the conditions.

Officers also say wearing a seatbelt, using winter tires and equipping your vehicle with a winter survival kit that includes windshield washer fluid and road flares is a must.

Police also say give yourself extra time to reach your destination and while driving leave extra space between vehicles in front of you.

Officers say often fatigue, distracted driving, poor vehicle maintenance and failure to use safety equipment are the most common causes of vehicle crashes.
