Another MPP Voices Concerns Regarding Winter Road Maintenance In The North

Another MPP has voiced his concerns regarding the ongoing maintenance of roadways in Northern Ontario during the winter.

Algoma-Manitoulin MPP Mike Mantha has joined Timiskaming-Cochrane MPP John Vanthof and NOP Party Leader Trevor Holliday in voicing their concerns with winter road maintenance in the north.

Mantha says it’s clear the message needs to be pushed upon the government as the current winter program is not meeting the needs of the area.

Vanthof spoke to Moose news in mid-December, after a fatal collision on Highway 11 near Temagami, saying there are far too many deaths taking place each winter on northern roadways.

Mantha says the highway is the main source of transportation for northerners, and therefore they take all the necessary steps to prepare, and now the government should be doing the same.

Transportation Minister Steven Del Duca stated back in December that the government planned to look into a specific stretch of Highway 11 following the Temagami collision.
