Minimum Wage Increase Starting in the New Year

In just five days, many people will see their wages rise.

Starting January first, the province is implementing the minimum wage increase to $14 per hour.  This is part of Ontario’s Fair Workplaces, Better jobs Act which also includes a new domestic or sexual violence leave up to 10 individual days, ensuring workers are entitled to at least three weeks of vacation after five years with the same employer and expanding the personal emergency leave program.

Minimum wage is expected to increase again in 2019 to $15 per hour.
