Long-Time Hearst Business To Close Doors For Good

A long-time local business will be shutting its doors come the end of 2017.

Hearst’s Maki Electric Home Hardware will be closing for good at the end of the month, mainly due to the constant decreasing of the town’s population.

Owners Eero Keltamaki and his sister Elsa Perman have decided after over 40 years of service that they will be shutting down the family operation.

The owners say that with the population continually decreasing more businesses are carrying the same items, and therefore it was time to bring things to a close.

The store will officially close its doors for good on Saturday, December 30th.
