Wynne Liberals Vote Against Regulating Gas Prices

The Liberals have let down families by voting against legislation to regulate gas prices across the province.

That’s according to NDP Timmins-James Bay MPP Gilles Bisson, who said Thursday following the vote that Premier Kathleen Wynne has chosen to continue allowing gas companies to further gouge Canadians.

Bisson’s Fairness in Petroleum Products Pricing Act would have given the Ontario Energy Board the ability to regulate the retail and wholesale markup of gas and oil.

As he mentioned when the bill first was being proposed, it would give the OEB and Lieutenant Governor a chance to provide consistent and transparent pricing.

Energy Minister Glenn Thibeault had previously stated that gas prices are for the most part lower than they were ten years ago.

Thibeault also says the OEB has a report that proves Canadians in provinces with regulated prices pay more at the pump.

Bisson says families living all across Northern Ontario will have to continue dealing with unreasonable fluctuations in gas prices between townships, leaving them to suffer.
