Town Updates Rental Policy For Civic Centre

The rental policy for the Civic Centre has received a needed update.

That’s according to Kapuskasing Mayor Alan Spacek, who at town council Monday says councillors were able to agree on an updated rental policy when it comes to the Civic Centre, meaning more concise and clear guidelines for renting.

Spacek says one of the major stumbling blocks in updating the policy was to decide whether or not to allow the centre to compete with other local venues for events.

He says council has decided against competing with other not for profit venues for the overall benefit of the town.

Spacek says the policy update guarantees the use of other not for profit venues comes first.

He says this policy update will also give staff better guidance when renting the centre.

Spacek says with the new policy in place the guidelines as which to rent the Civic Centre have been made much more understandable.
