Forcemain Project Receives Financial Boost To Overcome Issue

A financial boost has been given to an ongoing forcemain project to allow it to continue.

Monday at town council an additional $143,000 was approved towards an ongoing forcemain reconstruction project on Mill Street.

Public Works Manager Eric Cote said at council the project, which is to replace older pieces with newer ones and will provide better access for crews when it comes to future work, is past halfway complete.

Mayor Alan Spacek says the $1.2 million project, which the town has been charged for half of already, needed the additional boost in order to overcome an unexpected issue.

Spacek says in order for the project to reach full completion, it needs this additional investment.

He says the long-term benefits of completing such a project are more than worth the short-term financial cost.

The project consists of an old forcemain being moved from the field behind Tembec onto Mill Street where it will then become much more accessible.
