A mining employment and hiring forecast is aiming to help companies understand the workforce needs.
The Far Northeast Training Board is working on a report to help companies and businesses understand the needs of the industry and develop workforce and labour adjustment strategies.
Executive Director Julie Joncas says the board is collecting information from local mines on how many workers they have and how many they might need within the next 10 years.

Joncas says this will help colleges tailor their programs to meet the specific needs of the industries.
The final report is expected to come out in February.
