A Kapuskasing elementary school has been shut down for the day due to a water main break.

The Conseille Scolaire du District des Grand Rivieres has decided to close Andre-Cary Catholic School this morning at 10:00am.

Supervisory Officer for the school Jeremie Lepage says the closure is taking place because of a water main break on school property.

Lepage says all parents of students have been contacted regarding the issue.

He says school buses would return students home around 10:00am this morning after each parent had been reached.

Lepage says they are inviting parents to pick up their children at the school.

At this time the extent of the damage and cause of the issue is unknown.
