Kapuskasing Resident Warns Of Possible Credit Card Scam

The Kapuskasing community should be on the lookout for a new scam involving claims of mysterious charges to your visa.

According to a Kapuskasing resident who chose to stay anonymous, she received a call around 4:00am Thursday morning regarding a charge to her credit card.

After being asked if this was correct she responded saying no, the man then asked immediately if she had her card on her person, to which she responded she had cut it up.

When asking for the company the caller was working for, she says he responded first visa security department and after being asked again, he then claimed to be through TD bank.

After she responded by telling the suspicious caller she had no accounts with TD, she claims he immediately hung up the phone with her.

She claims when she tried to call the number back it reads as not in service.

The OPP is asking the community to alert them of any information regarding possible fraudulent calls or scams or to call the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre for help.
