PHU Further Encouraging Flu Shot As Month Nears End

The Porcupine Health Unit is further encouraging the community to receive its influenza vaccine.

During the entire month of November, the PHU has been offering free community influenza clinics in Kapuskasing, Timmins, Cochrane, Hearst, Hornepayne, Iroquois Falls, Matheson, Moosonee and Smooth Rock Falls.

Public Health Nurse Dominique Mongeon says getting a flu shot prevents you from dealing with illness, hospitalization and even possibly death.

Mongeon says you can get the vaccine from different places in your town, including your local healthcare provider and even a local pharmacy.

She says you can easily book appointments online to reduce waiting times.

Mongeon says the flu virus can adapt and change year after year.

Therefore, she says the PHU is further encouraging people to get vaccinated in order to better protect themselves, their family and their community.

The PHU will be offering the flu vaccine free until the end of the November.
