Community Charity Event Raises Over $500 For Victim Of Residential Fire

There are no words to describe this feeling.

That is the best description Marcia Chum could come up with to explain the overwhelming of emotions she felt when the community came together on her behalf Friday evening at the Sunshine House.

Local musicians from all over the area, Kurtis Edwards of the Barrel House Blues Band, 705 Studios Dennis Habel, Junior Thiffeault, Dan Tremblay and Jessie Chimm, as well as a handful of other local talent showed in bunches to support their colleague and friend.

Chum and her two young boys earlier in the week had dealt with a fire at their residence which destroyed most of, if not all of their belongings.

Chum says the way friends like Amanda Marriott reacted to her time of need has been beyond her wildest imagination.

She says she has been overwhelmed by the unselfish nature of friends like Amanda and Natalie Leonard.

Amanda Marriott, a good friend of Chum’s for the past four years says Kapuskasing will always be there for those in need.

Marriott also says alot of credit goes to Natalie Leonard for putting the event together, and the community for showing up.

$575 in total was raised Friday night at the Sunshine and Chum says she can’t say enough about how thankful she is for all of the community’s support during this time.
