A Regional Hospital’s Sleep Lab is Under Review

The sleep lab at the Timmins and District Hospital is currently under review.

The hospital says this review will allow for informed discussions on the financial pressures the hospital is facing. The hospital says closing the lab is an option that is being considered to make up a $1-million budget shortfall. Hospital staff say they are looking for alternative ways to keep the sleep lab open while also improving financial sustainability. Both the TADH and North East Health Integration Network agree that the lab is a valuable service to both the city and the north eastern region including Cochrane and Iroquois Falls. The hospital says closing the lab is an option that is being considered to make up a $1-million budget shortfall.

It says it will be issuing RFPs to get information from similarly sized hospitals in the province with the service.
